Laying up a drilling rig without a contract. Warm-stacked means minimum crew kept aboard for quick reactivation. Cold-stacked means fully demobilized with just a watchman. A stacked rig fleet is a sign of market downturn; a quickly shrinking stack is a sign of recovery.
